One of my favorite quotes by the late
Martin Luther King is when he said, ‘ if a man is to be street sweeper… he
should sweep the streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will
pause and say here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well’. For you
to win the acknowledgement of heaven and earth; discipline, hard work, and determination
must be prerequisites. If you consider them in anything you do for a living, absolutely
you are going to raise its value and attract admiration to many, be it you are
a chef, security guard, gardener, or waiter. I remember during the late years
of twentieth century. Dj’s in Kenya were perceived from a negative point of
being school dropouts, drug addicts, and people who have got no future. No one
could allow his daughter to be married to such people. However, those who were
focusing on that occupation brought in new dimensions magnifying the job so
well that now days the job is worth a million dollar: a Dj can earn 200,000-
300,000 within a week. The significance of an occupation is not determined by
how much it pays, but how smart you work. Be creative!
